Play a creepy game where you find out what happens when, as a child, you are with your mother and you get lost in a supermarket Whenever we were little, one of our most primordial fears was going with our parents to the supermarket, and then supposedly getting lost from them and having to spend the night in the closed-off space. As children, our imagination ran wild, and we got scared of pretty much anything we didn’t know, and it was easy to get overwhelmed with fear and despair. MOM is a game where you find out just what happens when, as a child, you are with your mother, and you get lost in a supermarket. A supposedly simple premise The fact that the game developer decided on using a fear deeply installed into the childhood psyche is what allows him to get away with creating a genuinely creepy game without much effort. The 3D graphics are good, and the camera is made so that you genuinely feel like a youngster that is slowly being overwhelmed by despair. It is positioned close to the floor, so that everything else looks exaggeratedly large, just the way a child sees the world, and the increased FOV is there to simulate the vision you have when you are afraid down to your very core. Fear the unknown In MOM there are no monsters, just ideas, concepts and the unknown which materializes itself as an unsalable red ball of light that follows you around. Never stop watching your back, since there are mental factors which may be as terrifying as being lost in a supermarket for a child’s mind. The concept of “death” is handled differently in this title, as you don’t die per-say, but go into shock, and the eerie cries of your supposed mother in the distance make this all the more terrifying. Get out as fast as you can MOM while have you gripping your seat without using stereotypical jump-scares, gore and other forms of obvious gratuitous violence, instead relying on making you fear things that aren’t even there. This makes it a game worth playing, just as long as it is daylight, and the windows are wide open.
