Help a wannabe songwriter get a grip life and maybe learn a few things from other people Music requires talent and dedication, as is the case with every kind of art out there. Granted, modern technology has made it considerably easier to produce a song and make it available to millions of people, which is why some feel like there’s no real talent anymore. In truth, there are more great singers and musicians out there than there have ever been, and it’s that much easier to enjoy their art as well. A terrible songwriter finds love Rhyme or Reason is a comedy visual novel that allows you to experience the life of a wannabe artist, as well as make a few decisions in regards to his love life. The great part is that there are six different endings you can reach by making choices along the way, which makes it easy to re-play the experience multiple times. On the other hand, the story is a bit too short and simple to be memorable. The main character is an aspiring songwriter and poet, who’s unfortunately not very talented when it comes to writing lyrics or music in general. However, the story takes a turn when romance enters the picture, since everything else fades in the background. Even so, the relationship evolves according to your choices, so it’s not a definite happy ending. Basic artwork and multiple playthroughs The writing is fairly good, although you should obviously lower your expectations a little bit. You can choose from multiple dialog options sometimes in order to decide how the story evolves, although it’s quite obvious how your answer affects the next stage of the plot. The characters are not particularly deep, but you can relate to them in one way or another. As far as the graphics are concerned, the artwork is a bit too basic sometimes, which makes it difficult to get in the proper mood along the way. The backgrounds are the biggest offender, on the other hand, since most of them are dull and repetitive. Not much can be said about the character artwork either, although the style is a bit weird to begin with. An interesting story with simple action When it’s all said and done, Rhyme or Reason is not a memorable game, and it certainly doesn’t feature an award-winning story. However, it’s good enough to keep you busy for a hour or so if you want to see all the endings.
