Use your favorite anime character to inflict some pain onto your enemies in this fast-paced fighting game Fighting games are still very popular in the world of video games, especially arcade ones that feature wild combos and imposing characters. However, it’s not easy to create a set of polished gameplay mechanics, especially when it’s so important for the players to have complete control over their characters. Variety is required as well, just to avoid repetition after a few hours of gameplay. Choose your favorite anime character and use their special skills The Last Generation is a 2D fighting game that features a variety of anime characters to choose from, each one of which comes with special combos and powerful abilities that must be used in a creative way. It’s worth noting right off the bat the game is still a pretty rough state at the moment, especially when it comes to bugs and the general user interface, but the experience is quite enjoyable. As mentioned before, there are plenty of characters to choose from, and they are taken right out of the most famous and popular anime series and movies out there. To make things even better, each one of them features their own special styles and attacks, including powerful physical tackles or downright magic spells. Hence, it takes a while to learn how to control each one of them. Try not to fall off the platform There are multiple game modes to choose from, depending on whether you want to play with a friend on the same computer, or just challenge the AI to a duel. There’s also a solo arcade mode that pits you against a series of random enemies, and it’s possible to pick the difficulty level for the AI. Speaking of which, sometimes it’s enough to knock your enemy off the platform, rather than slowly drain his/her hit points. The controls are a bit awkward if you want to use a keyboard, especially in order to achieve various combos. However, the menu interface is annoying even with a gamepad, given the fact that you have to go through an annoying mini-game in order to pick a character. As far as the graphics are concerned, they are not too bad, but the animations are not as smooth as they could be. A neat fighting game that needs more work In the end, The Last Generation is not a finished product, that’s for sure, but it has all the right elements to attract a large number of players. In addition, the different characters make for a great learning experience.
